The Active Ingredients

The Botanicals:

Each of these handcrafted botanical oils are individually infused in sweet almond oil to extract the active botanical constituents from the plant.

Chickweed

The Stellaria media (chickweed) I use in is sustainably wildcrafted and gathered just as its about to flower, when it contains the highest botanical properties.  It is rich in flavonoids which stimulate circulation, are antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Linolenic acid and octadecatetraenoic acid have been shown to be useful in dry skin conditions such as eczema.

Chamomile

Matricari recutita (Chamomile) is renowned for its soothing and calming properties.  It can stimulate regeneration of the skin cells and is excellent for healing damaged skin.  It is ideal for sensitive skin and is beneficial at reducing redness, rosacea, acne and soothes sunburn with its cooling anti-inflammatory properties. It’s rich in flavonoids, which protects from cellular damage, coumarins, a potent antioxidant), and essential oils providing the anti-inflammatory and healing benefits.

The Oils:

A selection of oils are combined into the creme, each selected for their beneficial properties.

Shea butter has luxurious moisturising, healing properties and has shown to have some natural sun protecting properties, however it does not contain any SPF factor and not suitable as a sunscreen.

Sweet almond oil is used in the extraction process of both the chamomile and chickweed botanical elements. Sweet Almond oil is beneficial in maintaining the skins elasticity and promotes a ‘youthful appearance’.  It is rich in β-sitosterol, squalene, α-tocopherol which protect healthy cells from free radical damage. It is also a good source of the trace mineral manganese which activates enzymatic energy production in the skin as well as suppressing the signs of aging, irritation, and blemishes.

Avocado oil glides on the skin and has anti-inflammatory and moisturising properties and is a good after sun treatment.

Coconut oil is rich in medium chain fatty acids (MCT’s) and is concentrated in lauric acid, with antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, showing promising results in acne prone skin.  It improves the skins barrier function and has a rich moisturising effect.

Emu Oil is rich in omega 3, 6 & 9 and vitamins A, E, D & K2 these fatty acids inhibit inflammation and penetrates the skin rapidly.  It is made up of both long chain and short chain fatty acids, which promote rapid cell repair and is great for dry, mature skin (not suitable for vegetarians of vegans).
